Remember that heart disease is associated with fat in your diet. Experts say that you must have no more than thirty percent of total calories from fat in your diet to ward off this disease which has now become an epidemic in America and other countries. Studies have shown that by decreasing your fat intake for about ten weeks, can alone result in a conservative weight loss of about five to six pounds!

This loss came, interestingly enough, not because of the amount of foods consumed, but as a result of the amount of fat calories consumed. Interesting, yes? The women that lost the most fat were eating a lot of calories, just a lot less fatty foods! Do not make the mistake of starving yourself, because your body still needs about ten to fifteen percent of fat in your daily diet. Most of us do not have that problem, however and tend to err on the side of too much.

How can you lose weight? First, change your habits. Do something today that you did not do yesterday. Perhaps that means a walk for you, a trip to the gym, a twenty minute walk on the treadmill, or a swim. Swimming is great for all ages and all types of health problems because it is easy on the joints. Begin to change your snacks. Go to the grocery store and stock up on the healthy snacks so that when those cravings come, you will be ready to eat the right stuff!
