My Quest To Lose Weight In 2008 – The Diary For Week One

I have worked out, rightly or wrongly at this stage, that the main reason I am so over-weight is due to the food that I eat in between meals, foods such as chocolate, peanuts, crisps and sandwiches. My aim for 2008 is to just eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and to not eat any other food in the day. I am allowing myself to eat whatever I want for these three main meals, eating healthily wherever possible. This article explains how I have got on in week one.

I actually started this diet on the 2nd January as I had too much food left over from the Christmas holidays, well that is my excuse anyway.

Firstly I would like to mention that for 2008 I am also attempting to stop drinking alcohol completely and to also stop gambling completely, thus far I have succeeded but it is only January 5th. I am stopping gambling because I am rubbish at it and have lost far too much money over the last few years, this is therefore quite a good reason. I am hoping to quit the beer as my doctor has said I should! Before you think that life may not be worth living, let me tell you that I am seeing the whole exercise as a positive and as a test of my will power.

Back to the diet, on January 2nd I actually did quite well. I have to admit however that I did eat a twix at 2am as my dog would not stop barking. I shared the twix with her in the hope that it would came her down, it worked! She is now expecting a twix every night but I am aware that chocolate is not that healthy for dogs. I also had chocolate sponge cake for pudding at lunch time. Apart from that I was quite pleased with my efforts.

January 3rd and 4th went very well, so much so that I went to an Indian restaurant for my dinner on the 4th.

I will report on week two at the end of next week. If I can keep this up for around six months I am confident that I will lose weight, others may disagree however.
